Overview
Proxed.AI is a proxy that sits between an app and AI providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic. You replace the provider URL with a Proxed endpoint; the service keeps the sensitive half of the API key on its side, verifies the calling device with Apple's DeviceCheck, applies rate and spend limits, and can enforce structured responses. It is open-source and can be self-hosted.
- Best for
- iOS developers calling OpenAI or Anthropic who need provider keys kept off the device.
- Pricing
- Self-hosting is free and open-source; hosted plans are shown at $25/year (Starter), $100/year (Pro) and $300/year (Ultimate), after a 14-day trial with no card required.
- Runs on
- WebSelf-hosted
Strengths and trade-offs
Strengths
- Swap the provider URL; no SDK or backend to build
- Apple DeviceCheck device attestation is built in
- Open-source and self-hostable with no usage limits
- Per-project rate limits and spending ceilings
Trade-offs
- Device attestation is Apple DeviceCheck, so it covers iOS only
- Hosted call allowances are low: 1,000/month Starter, 10,000 Pro
- Only OpenAI and Anthropic are named as supported providers
- Self-hosting means running and monitoring the proxy yourself
