Overview

OpenComputer runs AI agents on persistent virtual machines that hibernate between turns and wake with state intact, so a run resumes after a crash, disconnect or redeploy. An agent is a source-controlled directory holding its identity, instructions, tools, connections and durable workspace, deployed to a stable agent ID that aliases immutable deployments. The VMs are also sold on their own.

Best for
Developers deploying LLM agents that must survive crashes, and teams wanting bare persistent VMs
Pricing
VM compute is billed by usage: $0.004 per minute ($0.24 per hour, quoted as $168.72 per month) for 4 GB and 1 vCPU, with 20 GB disk included and $0.0000001 per GB-second of disk; volume discounts are by enquiry.
Runs on
WebSelf-hostedCLI

Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • Sessions hibernate when idle and wake with state intact
  • Full VM with filesystem and OS access, not a container
  • Resize memory and CPU on a running VM without restarting
  • Per-minute billing; you pay only while the VM runs

Trade-offs

  • Published sizing slider stops at 16 GB memory
  • One 4 GB VM left running is quoted at $168.72 per month
  • Agent product is gated — the site asks you to talk to the team
  • Local development is described only via OpenCode
