Overview

Dokploy is an open-source, self-hostable PaaS for deploying applications and databases across one or more servers. It builds apps with Nixpacks, Heroku Buildpacks, custom Dockerfiles or Docker Compose, routes traffic through Traefik, and scales via Docker Swarm. It also manages MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB and Redis with backups, and exposes a REST API and CLI.

Best for
Developers and small teams self-hosting containerised apps and databases on their own servers.
Pricing
Cloud plans start at $4.50/month per server (Hobby) and $15/month (Startup), with Enterprise and Agency by quote; an open-source self-hosted option is referenced but its terms are not shown.

Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • Open source and self-hostable, with no vendor lock-in
  • Builds with Nixpacks, Buildpacks, Dockerfile or Docker Compose
  • Manages MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB and Redis backups
  • Multi-server deployment plus REST API and CLI access

Trade-offs

  • Hobby plan caps you at 1 user, 1 server and 2 environments
  • Cloud pricing is per server, so cost rises as you add servers
  • SSO, audit logs and fine-grained RBAC require contact-sales Enterprise
  • Self-hosting means supplying and maintaining your own servers
