Overview

Uptrace is an observability platform built on OpenTelemetry and ClickHouse that unifies traces, metrics and logs, with APM views including a service graph, RED metrics and latency percentiles. It ingests from OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Vector, FluentBit and CloudWatch, and runs as Uptrace Cloud or self-hosted from GitHub. An MCP server lets AI assistants query telemetry in plain text.

Best for
Engineering teams already using OpenTelemetry that want traces, metrics and logs under one usage-based bill.
Pricing
50 GB of traces, logs and metrics free each month, then from $0.075/GB — the estimator shows $0.100/GB for traces and logs and $0.025 per million metric datapoints, falling to $0.016/GB at volume — while self-hosting is free.
Runs on
WebSelf-hosted

Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • Traces, metrics and logs in one OpenTelemetry-native platform
  • Self-hosting from GitHub is free with no feature limits
  • No per-seat, host or service fees; billed on data ingested
  • Hard monthly spend cap that the vendor says it won't exceed

Trade-offs

  • Cloud data is held only in EU data centres, in Germany and Finland
  • Support runs 16/5 across EU and US business hours, not 24/7
  • Round-trip latency of 90–190ms from the US, Asia, India and Brazil
  • No published plan tiers; you must model cost from per-GB rates
