Overview

drawDB is a browser-based editor for database schemas: build entity-relationship diagrams on an infinite canvas and generate DDL for MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MariaDB, SQL Server or Oracle. It also reverse-engineers a diagram from a pasted DDL script and exports to SQL, DBML, JSON or an image. The editor is open source and can be self-hosted with Docker.

Best for
Developers and teams designing relational database schemas visually and generating DDL.
Pricing
Free tier with no account needed, then $14/month for Solo and $17/user/month for Team, both with a 7-day free trial.
Runs on
Self-hostedCLI

Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • Full editor runs in the browser with no account required
  • Imports DDL to rebuild a diagram; exports SQL, DBML, JSON or image
  • Open source, self-hostable with Docker
  • Covers MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MariaDB, SQL Server and Oracle

Trade-offs

  • Free diagrams sit in browser storage (IndexedDB) and are lost if it is cleared
  • Cloud storage, sharing, AI assistant and MCP server all need a paid plan
  • Live collaboration and diagram permissions are Team-only, not on Solo
  • Self-hosting means running and maintaining your own Docker instance
